Gauges,shifter and air conditioning messing up.

I have a 2001 sunfire and recently when I start it all the dash gauges don't work. Also the shifter knob can not be pressed to shift it into gear and the air conditioner fan works but does not blow cool air. And the radio won't work. If I restart the car a time or two it will let me shift into gear but the gauges and air won't work for a few minutes. Sometimes it works great but other times it doesn't. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

it could be a bad ignition switch since so many circuits are being effected but that is only a guess. The only way to be sure is for someone with at least a volt meter to start checking for the source of the problem. There was a recall on your car for bad ignition switches, was this recall performed on your car? If you are unsure any GM dealer can look it up for you.
