Been a busy year so haven't done much of anything on the 70 Catalina. Recently purchased a Pontiac 72 400 and th350 that were rebuilt not too long ago according to seller. Headers, Edelbrock manifold and carb MT Valve covers and supposedly a performance bumpstick. Heard it run with no exhaust and seemed to run well. For the price don't think I can go too far wrong. Anyhow, have engine and trans separated and engine on the stand now. Wanted to just do a cursory upper and lower inspection on it to make sure everything is healthy and then tidy it up and shoot it blue before swapping it in place of the Cat's tired 350. I was thinking of pulling the heads to see how lifters and cam look then flipping it and pulling the oil pan and seeing how the bearings are holding up. Done a fair amount of mechanical stuff in my lifetime but not a whole lot of internal engine work. Have Rocky Rotella's book, and was just looking for any advise from the sage experts here. Thanks.

Not much too add if you already have that book, pretty much the bible on building a Pontiac engine. Keep us posted on how it goes.
