ok so i have a 91 Grand am 2.3L QUAD SOHC. Im getting a small spark on the main pully...its sparks about every 2-3 sec. Ive tried to reground the engine (made sure no paint was left). And another problem i have is that it goes through about a 1/4 tank of gas in about 20 miles give or take, smokes black from the tail pipe. Ive tried to replace the plugs and the gas milage got worse and is still getting worse, and my final problem is when im driving at 45-65 it starts to lag in power and shakes BUT if i hit above 65mph it goes away!!?? Any ideas????? PLEASE HELP!!!!

have you checked the computer for any codes?

i went to autozone and dude told me i can only get a code if my light was on which i know is BS and they only had a obd2 i need obd1 and cant pay for a diag. i have a few ideas for the fuel comsp. but the spark...know 1 can figure it out

ok
the problem u are having is a fuel dump thats causes the black smoke (running rich)

poor spark could be a short to ground in the ignition coil
check for cracks in the housing

you need to fix the gas problem first then go after spark
if all is sparking then u should be good
