I just purchased a 2001 grand am it starts good on cold start,,but when its warm,, it rolls over weird like it wants to start right away but it doesn't,cleaned air intake checked vac. lines,,no check check eng. light is on..motor runs smoth

since you just purchased it, do you know the last time it was tuned, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs?

no I don't that's where I am heading next,,seems like a fuel issue I just thought someone out there might of had a similar pro, thanks for ur reply

Been having same issues with my 03 GA 3400. Wants to start on the 1/4 turn when its hot but dies. Usually pics up on the 2nd or 3rd try but happens one out of five times when the engine's hot. I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up outside so I can get to work on it. I'm looking into changing spark plugs and wires, clean the throttle body, air intake, injectors and maybe M.A.F. sensor, change air filter but I'm affraid to change the fuel filter because I did it on my 03 Sunfire and a few days later had to change the fuel pump. Don't know if it was just a coincidence or if i did something wrong...

Just a thought, pull the vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator. If there is fuel present, replace the regulator.

I will look into that and if it works, I'll probably postpone the tune up till later in the fall. Thanks :)

Checked my fuel pressure regulator and it seemed ok but i noticed the vacuum line that goes from the intake plenum to the regulator was actually broken, so there wasn't any vacuum to the line therefore regulator wasn't working at all. Replaced the vacuum line and now everything seems to work fine. I'll see later on how the car will start either cold or hot. Hope my info was helpful :)

glad you found the problem
