I'm going to change out the wiper motor on my daughter's 1998 Grand Am. Any surprises waiting for me or is it pretty straightforward?
Thanks in advance for any tips!

OK, changed out the motor but I somehow don't have the crank arm adjusted right. It justs moves up and down an inch or so from the rest position.
Is there a trick to getting the crank arm positioned correctly on the motor stud so that the wipers sweep across the windshield properly?

Solved the problem. When you buy a remanufactured wiper motor, not only do you need to swap the cap that contains all the electronics from the old part but also the contacts that are on the old part that are not a part of the cap that you've just removed.
Without them the motor will not function properly.
I got real good at taking the motor out and reinstalling it. I can now do it in about 15 minutes.
By the way,I only removed the wiper on the driver's side and was able to lift the cowling enought to get my hand and the 1/2" wrench in there to remove and reapply the nut from the crankshaft stud.
