Having issues closing hood to my 2001 Pontiac Grand AM?

I recently has to jump start my wife's car and now my hood will not go all the way down. It closes but it pops up while I'm driving and the only the hook is keeping it from fully opening. Please Help!!

Spray the latch assembly down with PB Blaster or another good penetrating oil. Move the lever that the cable pulls back and forth with a screwdriver until it loosens up. Slam the bitcch.

GMs r bad about this ... check and see if the cable is returning to proper position after u pull the pop-hood lever... make sure the spring on the end under the hood hasn't gone bad... if that's good... then u can adjust the closing mechanism by loosening the bolts and moving it do wear the hood will close... also worse case scenario u can loosen the hood mounting bolts and get even more adjustment (last case scenario)
good luck tho shudnt b too hard to do ... just a little tedious....
