1972 pontiac firebird.

A while back i swaped the turbo 350 automatic for a 4-speed muncie. and i havent been able to center line the tail housing to the rear end. it is offset to the right. If it helps any i have an after market scattershield in it. I just took the drivetrain apart again to install an OEM bellhousing. think it will help or fix my problem?

I have seen articles concerning this in publications such as Hot Rod magazine. If i remember correctly it depends on how much offset you are dealing with. Isnt there enough play in the rear transmission mount holes to correct your problem?

there is about a 1/2 an inch that i can move the tail housing over, but it doesnt move freely, i would have to pry the trans over then sinch the blots down. Even if i do that im pretty sure it would just move itself back as soon as i step on the pedal and get some torque moving through it.

OK, what about loosening the engine mount bolts also, get the trani moved over and then retighten everything. Try jacking up the right side of the car so the weight of the engine/trani will tend to shift everything back to the left.

Yea thanks for the idea, tried that earlier today and it worked! Now i just have to get the right clutch fork to match the stock bellhousing.
