I just finished stripping the interior out of my 1970 LeMans Sport convertible, and redoing it. It came out great! Anyway, as I was reinstalling the armrests in the back seat, the courtesy lights (which are in those armrests) stopped working. I checked the wiring at the light and determined no power. I checked the fuses, of course, but they all appear fine. Odd, since I constantly check everything along the way, and the courtesy lights had been working fine moments before.

Anyway, I subsequently discovered that the headlihgts won't work on low beam.  So when I pull the head light switch knob all the way out, all exterior lights go on except the low beam headlights. But when I push the button on the floor for the high beams, all 4 headlights come on. So there is some source of power to the low beams.

I am not sure the courtesy lights and head light issues are related, but I have to suspect they might be.

Can anyone help me diagonse this? My thought is that it's the headlight switch in the dash board. Any other thoughts?

Thanks a lot folks.

Do you have the wiring diagrams for the car? Did you check with a voltmeter if there is any current going to the low beams? Since the whole interior was out are you sure you didnt break/pinch a wire in the harness under the carpet running to the courtesy lights?
