MARKVIII
Just snooping around. Im from the LOD site for the Mark VIII's. Nice site by the way. I am seriously considering getting back to my GM roots and getting a GTO. I kept waiting for Lincoln to make the LS a 2 door with the SVT cobra motor but was sorely let down with what they have to offer now. The new GTO looks fantastic (on front and sides) and has about the same wraparound interior style as my current 1995 Mark VIII. It is also a V-8, 6-spd, and has serious HP. One thing that is serously bothering me though is the sunbird looking rear end. Did the developers just stop and finish the rear end styling quick early on a friday before the weekend? Is there any re-designed new styles comming out after 2006?
I think the rear needs to have a tapered flowing design similar to the original GTO design that would match the front more. To cut the rear and make it boxy and square looks cheap. Like a ricer. The tailights and trunk are the flagship of the car. It needs to have a nice tapered wraparound rearend like the Mark VIII. As it is now it looks too ricey like the fast and furious cars. I know that GM can do better. I have had my fair share of Trans Ams dating from 1978 to 1997 and can seriously say that Pontiac has dropped the ball on this one. Take a look at your competition, the new Mustang which is absolutely beautifull and heavily styled after the original with a modern look, but not too ricey and cheap looking. I came to browse and meet some folks about how they feel about the car after owning one of the new GTO's.
