I'm new to the forum and i was wondering if anyone have experience or seen this before. I'm trying to look for info on how to get rid of the knocking noise underneath (i think) or in the oil pan area. I've got a 67 pontiac lemans with 326 with 2bl carb. I recent upgraded to 700R4 trans for freeway driving and recently rebuilt the the steering components and added a front disk brakes with 2 inch drop. I replaced the fuel pump maybe a year ago (noise was never there after replacing it.) A friend suggested to re-install the fuel pump but wanted to get a 2nd opinion. It is not overheating or i don't see any sign of smoke. i did not run for a while (maybe 7 months or so) since it took me forever to complete the disk brake upgrade. i'm not sure if i damaged my engine. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you do an oil pressure test? What weight oil are you using? How many miles on the engine?

Melsg5, thanks for your time. not yet on the oil pressure test but will try this one next. 10w40 for the oil weight. The odometer shows 24,000, not sure how many times it turned over. i got this car about 10 years ago. I did re-install the fuel pump yesterday and the same knocking noise is still there.

Do the oil pressure test and try to isolate the source of the noise. You can try using a rubber hose held to your ear and then move the other end around to try to find the source of the noise.
