Help starting a 1974 Pontiac Firebird?

The car has been sitting for 3 years now, not been started at all. I tried to start it today, the first time I got it to turn over which was a good sign, but then I tried again and nothing, so I don't know what could be wrong with it, the battery is brand new so its not that, could it be the 3 year old gas in it gumming it up or something

you should drain the gas and put in fresh gas, you should change the oil and filter, make sure the battery connections are tight.
