Hi All,
I need help with identifying a supposedly 350 engine that I obtained.
I cannot seem to find any information online that pertains to my specific block stampings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Block Casting- 488986/488988 (Cannot definitively make out the last digit)
4 Digit date code- A065
Engine code-YK

Thanks in Advance!

It's 488986
1975 350 January 6th 1975
155 HP
7.6 compression ratio

Thanks for your help! I think this one is garbage! It was pretty much assembled with the exception of the accessories. I barred it over by hand and seemed a little stiffer than usual. Threw a new starter and battery on it and tried cranking it over… no luck. Starter engaged into the flexplate but wound not turn. Again… new starter (shimmed correctly)
New battery. Pulled all of the plugs and tried again…Motor would crank but not very fast, almost as if there was some binding going on. I took off the heads which are 46 6H heads. Believe it or not they were fitted with the 2.11/1.77 valves. Measured them 3 times to confirm. Also removed carb and intake.
Barred it over again and can definitely feel some kind of binding going on in the rotating assembly. Oddly enough the cylinder walls look pretty decent with very minimal ridge wear at the top of each cylinder. This one is puzzling and also my first experience with Pontiacs.
Also noticed a faded Reman label on the block. This engine was pretty much a freebie so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to build/rebuild my first Pontiac.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks again
