help with my firebird!

Drving it today it was fine then all of a sudden the idle started getting rough and then it died. The car will start and run as long as i give it gas but it wont idle on it's own. If i let off the gas even in park it will shut down. I dont know what it could be. Help please.

It's a 1989 firebird 2.8L

when is the last time you change fuel and air filters? have you checked your fuel pressure?

I am not too sure about these 3rd gens, but if they are computerized (even slightly?) maybe it is an IAC issue?? (Idle Air Control). On my 1994 I had the exact same issue. The IAC was just dead on mine. Replaced it and it runs like a champ now. I even get better gas mileage too! Just a suggestion though.

had the exact same issue on my exact same bird. It was the Idle Air Control Valve. 15-20$ part. pull one wire and use an open end wrench. be sure to disconect the battery and wait a minute or two then reconect the battery. Mine ran like a champ after this!
