Greetings!

So, I have a 94 Sunbird, 2.0L. I don't drive it a lot but at least 3 or 4 times a month. All in all, it seems to be a great car.

Now, under load and/or under heavy foot and/or going up hills, the engine misses... and it's rhythmic (not random). Of course the first thing I checked was spark. No problem there. I have a feeling it's fuel but as we all know, all 90's cars have this thing where sensors determine the fuel... and there are many of them.

Under light load and very slow acceleration, the engine runs fine.

If I tap the gas to the floor and let go right away, it sputters (like it would die but wont).

There is no check engine light but I typically remove the battery cable from the battery when I am not using the car for a week or so.

There is NO white smoke coming out the back.

The oil is clean as can be (no milk at all).

I am all ears! Thanks in advance!

Every time you disconnect the battery , the computor goes into "Limp Mode" for a few days or miles. It may be it or not...........

I just had the same problem you describe on full throttle with my 90 Silverado , fuel filter was partially clogged with sand and rubber hose particles.

Ethanol in the fuel is the result of the rubber particles showing up in the filter. It eats rubber.

Change the fuel filter ( not with a Fram one) AC Delco , Napa ( Wix ) or Puralator are a good choice. 10,000 miles or every 3rd oil change is the rule on fuel injection cars.
