• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... How's everyone ? Names jeff. From toms river Nj, about five minutes outside of seaside heights. Been building, working on, racing cars/boats for as long as I've been able to use tools. I'm 31 and I work as a mercruiser tech. I've been partial to gm just as long. F & G bodies in particular. Had a few trans ams/camaros and a few Monte carlo ss's as well. Looking forward to contributing and hopefully learning a thing or two

Current car (my fun car of course) is nothing special, money is very tight so I picked up a 1997 grand am gt. The car is a l82 3100 v6, 4t60e trans. Its basically stock for now with the exception of a 59mm throttle body, CAI, 180* stat(if you can call it a "mod"), and a magnaflow cat....most special thing about the car: 25,845 original miles.

Parts I have waiting to go on when I get some serious time to work on it.

2001 upper and lower intake manifold off of an lg8 v6. (Flows waaaaay better than the small port on the 94-98 ga's. They have both been ported

65 mm TB from an lx5 olds engine

Ported exhaust manifolds (have yet to find headers for a 97 grand am with a 3.1)

Will be purchasing a cam, have not decided which one.

Also have a set of ported and polished 3400 heads from a 2001 GA

Eventually it will be getting an lx9 swap with a getrag 5 speed. That is my ultimate goal and it is where I want the car. But if I can get 235-250 bhp out of this 3.1 I think it will make for a very fun , quick car to drive. Its already decently quick (ass dyno tells me a mid 15 second car) .....when the five speed gets swapped in I will be extremely excited. Still need to do a little more research on it though.

I have considered a 3400 swap also with a vortech SC setup, because the 3.4 is a direct bolt in basically. But as I said since the 3.1 only has 25k on it, I'm going to get what I can out of it. Really want this engine with a 5,speed swap though......anyway sorry for the long post. Looking forward to meeting you all

Jeff
