Hissing sound from vents.

Hello.

I have a 1989 Pontiac Sunbird LE.

Just recently I have been hearing a hissing sound coming from my vents.

When the fan is in the off position I hear a hissing sound but when the engine revs up is hardly heard at all.

I am thinking it might be the controller but I am not sure.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

have you looked under the passenger side dash to see if you can locate the source of the noise, a possible broken or disconnected vacuum line?

Yes it sounds like a broken or disconnected vacuum line or one mad snake.

Hello all! It has been sometime since I got carried away with life!
My problem has been solved only because I had to replace the control unit and luckily I have a new one on hand! No hissing and everything is working great!
