I have a 96 Grand Am GT. She starts up like a pro the first time, but after I drive her for a little bit and turn her off (like at the supermarket) and I try to start her again, she just doesn't want to start. I'll turn the key in the ignition, hear the engine begin to start, and after a second or two the tachometer drops to zero and the engine shuts off. It can sometimes take several tries to get the engine running. One thing I do that seems to help sometimes is: As I turn the key in the ignition, and it sounds like the engine is starting, I will slightly press down on the gas pedal for several seconds, and sometimes that will get the engine running.
Anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be?
