I was wondering if anyone knew the most effective means of adding horsepower to a naturally aspirated car. Is it Heads, exhaust, intake, etc.

the best way is to add a forced air system turbo supercharger

new heads will cost more and give less hp nos will rune the engine in a short time

check out prowcharger it is the easiest toin stall

It depends on how much horsepower you are looking to gain. Some parts you add on will give small gains while others will give extremely large gains. Obviously the more horse power you gain, the more expensive it will get...

Cold air intake- allows more, cooler air into the engine. Usually you will gain around 10 hp. they are fairly cheap and also give better gas milage.

Exaust- you can do many different stages of exhaust. Cat-back systems are fairly popular today. it runs larger pipes from the catalytic converter back to allow less back pressure. These usually give you a 10% hp gain. so if your car currently has 200 hp, you may get 20 hp or more gain. You can also put headers on and take the catalytic converter off to have even less back pressure, which means more hp ( it is illegal to remove the cat though...so depending where you live or if you plan on moving to a new state where the car will have to pass inspection, it may not be a good idea to do this)

computer chip- this is a good way to boost your hp. A new com chip allows the computer that runs your car to peak the engine. It allows for a higher revving engine, higher speeds, and overall more power. Some expensive chips will give a 60-80 hp gain! they are, however, a pain in the ass to install

NOS- this is just a massive boost to your engine at one time...i wouldn't use this unless you use your car on a track

turbocharger/supercharger- these packages are much more expensive but give you a very high horsepower gain. They can boost horsepower anywhere from 50 hp to 150 hp, depending on brand and size. They are also air induction systems. this is where you will be able to drive your car and really FEEL a difference.

you can also do really small things to the engine to mae it run smoother and perform at it's highest hp...just make sure your spark plugs, wires, belts, oil, etc. are up to date
