There has to be a stick!! Maybe you just have not found it. In some cars it is almost impossable to find the stick. Look at the owners manual for the car in question. If you dont have it, search the internet for one.
Jack up your car, crawl underneath. On the side of the tranny there is a plug, either square headed or a hex or torx screw, take it out, stick finger in, if you get fluid on finger, it's full. If not add fluid fron top, under hood until it runs out. Put plug back it.
all auto's have a dip stick. Go to a GM dealer if you cant find it and they will show you where it is. But is should be dead center in the far back of the engine bay. WIll be a red stick with a loop for you to put your finger into to pull out...
OK to clear it all up The Cavaliars from the around 95 models on DO NOT HAVE
ANY DIPSTICK the fluid is checked by hoisting the car as said but the engine must be running to check the fluid level (best done by a dealership)
I know it sounds stupid (my opinnion it is) but GM at the time was making maintinenceless transmissions that should never need fluid ...HA HA ...
I worked on them at a dealership and can say for sure that is the way the transmissions are but I can also say they DO need to be checked from time to time ...
But with the complicated procedure I would suggest having someone else do it ..(dealer)
They're easy to check. Remove the plug located on the tail of the tranny just next to where the passenger side halfshaft goes into the trans. With the car running in park it should just trickle out of the hole. If fluid needs added, remove the RED cap on the drivers side top of the trans and add fluid untill it trickles out. Look down there, the cap is about center of trans top.
