...Sunfire? There is no dipstick to be found anywhere under the hood. It is making a whining sound, and I don't know how to check the fluid level...
Sorry... It is an automatic.

It is there, may be hard to see. I not familiar with the model, but, assume it a front wheel drive. Looking from the Front of the car the Transmission should be to the right of the engine. The Dipstick may be just back of the engine almost center or a little to the right of center. May be down low a little. It will tell on the Dipstick how to check. Usually run in park. IF, I find more info I let you know, may be someone else can tell you better.
Well below me sounds like the Best Answers, stupid car manufactures playing their rip-off crap game. That why I wish people just stop buying new cars for about a year and they stop that F*** Crap.

If at you automatic transmission that oil to check it is not necessary it change through 150 000 kilometers if there is no leak

that vehicle does NOT have a dipstick. Under the vehicle, just in front and above the passenger side axle shaft is a small, 11mm plug. Remove this and idle the car in park. fluid should just start to leak from the hole when the level is right. This is a 4t40e trans, there is no dipstick.

First is it a manual transmission if so their would not be one anyway. Second if it's an automatic this body style has a sealed transmission that is checked threw the speedo port must be done by a certified "GM" tech.
