How do you program the remote keyless entry for a 2000 pontiac sunfire?

I've got a 2000 pontiac sunfire gt. I am wondering if anyone knows how to program the remote keyless entry with this vehicle. I found this: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Pontiac-Repair-828/2000-Sunfire-RKE-Programming.htm

But there was no connector in my trunk. From the trunk solenoid ran a black wire and out of the trunk. Anyone know how to do this???
 
That method is only for the Sunfire up to the 1999 model year. Your year will have to be programmed with diagnositc equipment. If you can locate a locksmith in your area that does automotive remotes, they usually cost less than the dealer.
 
Can anyone confirm this?
An OEM remote for a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire can only be programmed from the dealer or locksmith?
 
I'm reading that one can not re-program a remote on their own.
This is a dealer or software/tool qualified person only. :confused:

sometimes reading your owners manual isnt a bad thing. in there, it tells of a method to do it yourself. Hold both the unlock and lock buttons at the same time for 10 seconds and to tell you it has sucessfully programmed, the car unlocks, locks, unlocks, locks.
