How do you tell which engine you have for a 1988 firebird.?

I know I have the tune port engine but how do I know if I have the 195hp/295t or the 220/290t do I need check the vin # or what?
 
You see nothing on the engine that indicates 5 liter versus 5.7 liter? What is digit eight in the vin#?
