I'm looking at a budget of maybe 20,000 for both car and other parts. (I plan to do this over the next few years, so I could invest more.) I'm willing to put time into it instead of paying money to a mechanic, although on more difficult parts I may have to get a mechanic as I don't trust myself. All I want to do is redo the paint and add more power (not to much fancy lights, stereos etc.)
I'm still not sure which to go with yet though(GT or Coupe).. As a side question, which do you recommend?
Paint is around $2500 for a excellent paint job.
As for engine swaps, It all depends on how much power you want. To go with a 3800SC, SBC V-8, Northstar V8, or a newer 60* V-6 you are looking at around $4000 to $8000. Some other swaps can be done for as little as a $1000. There are so many engine swap options for a Fiero. Basically any GM engine can (and has been) swapped into a Fiero.
For around $25K you could do BOTH cars for decent mods or spend $20K on just one and have a fully modified show/race car.
There are suspension upgrades, interior upgrades, body panel upgrades, etc.
The list is huge as to what can and has been done to Fiero's.
To get some idea's go to v8archie.com or gmtuners.com for engine swaps.
fierowarehouse.com for body modifications
fierostore.com for suspension upgrades, restoration parts, etc.
GT's are the more popular version of a Fiero.
