How the h*ll do you get this thing to stay on

Interior snd everything is good on this car but not sure if this gas pedal is original...when i bought the car the gas pedal was off so it was basically just the metal bar down there to push on for gas. However he gave me the pedal to put onnbut im not sure how it stays in or if its even the right one..looks original and all right (has same amount of wear as the brake pedal) however the gas pedal looks like it is only held on by a pin that goes through two holes in the back of the pedal? Is this original and how the hell do you get it to go on

I have the pin no spring, where does the spring go

It goes on the pin in the center exerting pressure on the peddle
