Hey everyone,

I was hoping someone could tell me if there is a way to increase the headroom in an '03 Sunfire. I'm 6'2" or so and I only have about an inch between the top of my head and the lining. This isn't exactly comfortable but doesn't bother me too much until I lean forward slightly at which point my head easily touches the lining. I suppose my concern is that if I get into a head on collision my head will catch on the top of the car and I will suffer some horrible neck injury as a result. This may seem like an odd concern but it really does worry me.

The seats are manual and there is no way to lower them. I have the seat in the rearmost position and slightly leaned back which helps but doesn't remedy the problem. The only things that I think may solve the issue are new seat brackets (to lower the original seat) or to install racing seats which may innately be lower. In addition, installation of racing seats and a 4 point harness may not allow my head to move forward far enough to present the possibility of my terrifying scenario.

Does anyone know of any brackets/racing seats which will guarantee a lower seat height and thus increase my headroom? Any other ideas are welcome as well. Thanks for the help!

Have you considered designing a way of permanently mounting the seat without the track.
