Hi all, im new in the forum, im from uruguay. I got a 79 trans am with the 400 6.6 litters, the car has a poor performance and i wanna put some good horse powers on it, mavy some one can give to me any ideas to do on mi engine? For example i wanna put the edelbrock rpm cylinder heads , edb intake , a holley 750doble pumper , 4.1 headers etc, some one with a similar prep over there? Than ks a lot javier

the heads are a good idea but make sure you get the style that matches your exhaust, there a round and D ports.
intake is a good choice also but make sure it works with the shaker hood if you have one.
The Holley probably will not work with the stock air cleaner
what are 4.1 headers?

Hi, thanks for your awnser, in mi country we say 4 to 1 talking about headers haha, mi fault, yes i got a shaker hood, did you know how many hp can i make with that combo? Mor or less!! Thanks a lot javier:)

The interweb has many hp calculators. Find one and you can input different set ups to find hp. A properly rebuilt Quadrajet might be your best option for a carb.

You did understand the Holley 750 DP will not fit under the shaker hood air cleaner? The car should already have a Quadrajet on it which is 750 CFM. The stock engine was rated at 220 horse power net so with higher compression heads an aluminum intake and headers I could see around 350 horse power.
