how to replace water pump on 1987 fiero

Need to replace water pump on my 1987 2.5 4cyl Fiero. Any tips or am I better off taking it to a garage.

id say drop the cradle. fieros are like fwd cars, the engine is meant to be serviced from the outside of the car.

No you do not need to drop the cradle.
Remove the battery and you have plenty of room to work.
Changing the waterpump is not too bad to do.
The only thing to be careful of is the bolts could be frozen on. Use PB Buster on them to aid in freeing them up.

got the pump off pretty easy going thru the top but now have a problem getting the pulley off is there a special tool for this>

The SM doesn't say so it's probably a press fit. A pulley puller should work.
