If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Hi there.
My name is Tom and I own an original 65 Pontiac GTO 389 4 speed
Nightwatch Blue with Pearl Metallic paint. I went to put it in reverse the other day and the shifter seemed to stick causing the reverse rod to come off of the shifter. I was able to find another cotter pin (which I thought was the issue) put the rod in place but it will not shift into reverse. When I put the lever on the tranny in reverse the shifter will go into reverse and the car will move in reverse. When I go to any to neutral or any other gear they all work as well but when back to reverse the shifter hangs up. Can someone help me out including pics and or video of the linkage and levers including reverse on the tranny when in neutral? It seemed like such a simple fix...go figure:):)

Thanks,Tom

I'm assuming the cotter pin you are referring to is for the shift linkage to the lever on the reverse rod coming out of the case. If it is the pin that holds the reverse shaft into the case of the transmission you have an internal issue. The video below shows how to adjust a Hurst shifter which I'm assuming is the issue.
