HVAC Fan Speed Control

My 2002 Sunfire GTX has a weird problem. Over the last couple of years, the HVAC blower/fan speed control has changed to the point, that it now only works on the highest sppeed. When changed to lower speeds, the fan does not work at all. What might be my next steps for trouble shooting?

the fan motor resistor is burnt out.
