or driving up an incline.? I need to know what I'm looking for and what to say to the mechanic when I take it in. Also, would I take my car to just any mechanic shop to handle this problem or someplace more specific to the part(s) being affected? Any help provided would be most appreciated, thanks in advance!

That could be several different things I'd start with being sure that all the belts are good and not loose , and check the transmission fluid.

It makes me wonder if that vehicle has had a basic tune up lately and if the gas filter has been changed on a regular basis and by the way I suggest that both are done once a yr.Also I'd want to treat the fuel system with something like STP or Lucas fuel treatment and you can add that stuff yourself just be sure to follow the instructions fully.

You could also check the air filter and the vac system be sure to check for any cracks or leaks in the vac hoses etc.

Basically you could get it scanned for free at a parts store or a garage etc and see if any codes exist otherwise I'd check the basic things I've mentioned and also be sure you treat the fuel system before investing into any repairs.

Find a local shop that sells automotive battery's bec most of them offer a free charging system check and it's possible that this problem is related to a loose connection at the battery or a bad ground etc.By the way I'am mentioning a charging system free test just so all the basic things are covered and without you spending any real cash and I've seen many different unusual problems all related to the charging system or it's connections , especially bad grounds.

Next time this occurs watch listen and pay attention to things like if any features are on in the car like the heat or A/C etc and if the idling is getting louder or the problem is getting worse etc.Keep an eye also to the gauges and the lights etc in the vehicle.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way as long as you can handle it and the problem isn't getting any worse then I'd do those things I've mentioned and be sure you get a shop to take a look scan it and another to test the charging system on it. If the problem gets worse and a regular shop can't help you seek a dealership for any further advice and trouble shooting bec they have the skills and special factory test equipment etc.

Start off with a local reputable mechanic. You may even want to have a local garage check
your transmission fluid before you even commit to an appointment. This could be something
very simple or it could be more.

Hope this helps better than that first answer.
