i drive an 89 pontiac firebird an when it shifts it makes a loud pop noise!...

...please help, i changed trani mount Ive already changed out my trani mount, im thinking it could be my engine mount an i dont have an engine crane to lift it out to change them.... but i dont even know if it IS tha engine mounts.... please give me ideas on how to fix this POP noise when it shifts! and its has automatic transmition....
 
I have a 91 firebird, It sounds like we had similar problems. At first I thought it was my transmission making the bang noise when I accelerated. After I paid the mechanic for servicing the trani I soon realized it was for nothing. I ended up being the engine mounts. It took a handful of mechanics to figure it out. Good luck!
 
There should be a mount on the trac bar. It bolts from the trans all the way back to the rear axle.They sell poly-urethane mounts for that bar.My advice is to use then instead of the rubber style. They will last longer. Those mounts are notorious for wear and the symptoms you're describing.Hope this helps.
