There are a few things that can help.
First, remove the stock exhaust manifolds and have them ported. From the factory the runners are welded to the log over oval shaped holes. If you remove the exhaust manifolds and port the runner holes out you can gain about 8hp.

Second, The Crossover pipe can also be ported out right at the "Y". They crimped the 2 out pipes and shoved them into the "Y". Any decent exhaust shop can cut it open and port it out then weld it back up.

Third, Porting all 3 sections of the intake will provide a little gain as well.

Finally, The Fiero Store sells a bored out throttlebody. It increases the size from a 52mm to a 55mm throttlebody. You will need to port out the upper intake plenum to match.

All the above is good for about 12-15hp gain. For more power it would require you do go into the engine. There are a few decent cam's, an aftermarket intake, and s few styles of headers. The heads can be ported and polished as well.
