...add more performance? The car runs great ardly any problems but very slow when compared to my friends imports and newer mustangs and camaros i mean the car can hardly take my friends little four cylinder lancer... It has a three speed with an over drive transmission. I have been told that the 305 is a bad engine to try build and i should swap for a 350 or 383 my dad thinks maybe we can find a four hundred but i think thats just his nostalgia from his 78 trans am and 71 gto talking. any advice?

There are a few ways to upgrade the performance of your car putting a larger engine would probably be the best way but be aware the rearends and transmissions are notoriously weak in the third gen firebirds and camaros and it would be easier to convert the engine over to a carb than try to run any kind of fuel injection as the wireing will not be there for it ..
