grand am.? We installed a new battery and the alarm kept going off.but the alrm wasnt activated yet. so we cut the alrm wire and.. now we cant get any power at all. nothing works.

probably because the alarm had a kill switch in it where if the power is cut to the alarm it disables the power to the engine...
you can either bypass it or remove the alarm all together

Sounds like an aftermarket alarm , I would be very careful as they can sometimes be wired into lots of different systems the best thing i could suggest would be to tempararly reconnect the wire you cut and try to start it .. or if you have the means to activate the alarm (remote or whatever) use it until you can disconnect all of the system and reconnect any nessasary wireing to allow normal operation ..
