I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. Awhile ago my heater just gave out on settings 1 through 4. It will...

...work on 5. Does anyone else have this problem and if so what did you do to fix it?
 
Sounds like the blower motor resistor. It will be located on your blower motor or very close to it. Most cars you can replace in a few mins. It is held in by 2 or 3 small bolts in the duct work on or close to the blower motor to allow for highest air flow for cooling. It will either be under the hood on the firewall on the passanger side or under the dash on the passanger side floor board.
