lifter from tapping? i have a 2002 pontiac grand am with 104 thousand miles on it after a moth i heard quiet tapping now its extremely loud when i turn it on when i drive it gets louder and the car cuts off randomly and occasionally i just bought it and i don't wanna spend a lot of money on it so how can i personally stop the lifter from tapping for a good amount of time

next oil change try adding 1/2 to 1qt of trans fluid in your engine oil(inplace of 1/2 to 1qt of oil.) run that till next oil chainge or untill lifter noise dimineshes. easiest and cheapest fix.
