and runs terrribly.? I thought it may be the fuel filter, but wouldn't that cause a constant sputtering? I have fresh gas and at the last fill up I added a cleaning soulution but the problem oersists.
Any other suggestions?

Could be a number of things - plugged fuel filter, obstructed fuel pick-up screen in the tank, or an emission control problem - specifically thinking about the EGR system. These are just a few of the possible causes.

If the 'check engine' lamp comes on other than when starting -suggest the first step would be to have the computer fault codes pulled. Other than that and without investigating further - would go for the fuel filter first.

i have a '91 with 3.1. it sounds like aan emissions problem. something canges after it gets hot. plugs ,wires ,sencers, ect. i went through all those on my car and still had the problem on my car. u should try those too. after that didn't work i bought a use igition control module with the coil packs from someone one ebay. it now runs fine. heres what i think the coils and module r under the exhaust manifold in the front of the car. the heat is probly the problem. i found a module form a car the has the coils on top of the motor, away from the exhaust. I can't tell u which car it was like a newer grand am maybe. still i would try the wires, plugs, and sensers first
