I HAVE A 98 PONTIAC SUNFIRE with a 2.4 twin cam motor with a 5 speed?

i was wondering what all transmissions are interchangeable with this motor ?
the guy i bought it from rebulit the motor n tranny and put no fluid in the transmission and it destroyed the transmission anything would help would even go to automatic

The easy thing would be to replace it with the same unit. Changing to an auto would be more than the car is worth.

I agree with Zimgxp. changing to an automatic would include possibly PCM sensors and even wiring harnesses and shift linkages. To many modifications that would cost more that what the car is actually worth. Also assuming the guy did the rebiulds himself (and didn't add the transmission fluid) it would lead me to believe that maybe the engine was not properly rebiult as well. Keep and close eye on the engine as well, maybe further problem may ensue.
