most likely reverse gear is blown out and no longer working, about the only fix is to rebiuld the transmission or learn to park so you never have to back up, I had a truck like that for a long time that you could not use reverse on, after a while I got pretty good at figuring out ways to not get stuck where I could not back up,like parking on a upward facing slope.
