I have a Pontiac Grand Am. How do I fix a power steering fluid leak?

I have gradually had to start putting power steering fluid into my car. I went through a quart in about three weeks. I didn't drive it for a week and now I have put in another 16oz in the last two days. I can see power steering fluid on my battery and other surrounding surfaces. I would like to take care of this without going to a mechanic. Is it difficult to fix this? Oh and the fluid that I put in had leak-stop additive. I appreciate any responses. Thanks.

Most likely its the high pressure hose thats leaking, its not a difficult part to replace with common tools. The hose is specific to your model car and engine. You need to fix it sooner rather than later, small leaks will only get bigger and instead of a $20 hose you will be shopping for a hose and a pump.

Go to your local auto supply store and buy any power steering fluid additave with the word MAGIC on the lable. Sorry I'm feeling cynical tonight. I'm thinking you might have to replace your power steering pump. It is not too difficult to do on most cars. If you are reasonably handy you should have no trouble. When the job is finished you will have air in the system, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times and it will take care of it's self.
