I have a 2002 firebird formula it has the LS1 in it what all needs to be done when changing the cam or can I just swap the cam out and be ok honestly have no idea just figured I would ask before I start taking it apart thanks

That pretty much depends on what cam you are swapping in. Typically the manufacturer of the cam lists what other modifications are required and what other parts are needed, new springs for instance or higher flow injectors or a certain rear end ratio or higher stall speed. You have to provide more information on the cam or check the manufacturers web site.

I highly suggest you get your exhaust in order first, like LT/ORY, before you swap the cam. Otherwise you won't get the full potential from the new cam.

Chesterton, eh? Not far from me. My WS6 is in the garage until it gets warmer!

Contrary to what others will tell you, no need for a tune if you first do a header/ORY swap. A tune is good for *any* car, but not necessary for a MAF car like the LS1 F-bodies. However, if you do put headers/ORY on, your SES light will be on until you get it tuned. You will also reap the rewards of better MPG with only the headers, I did. On the highway, of course. In town, you can't keep you foot out of it.
