I have an 1998 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cylinder, and it starts. Runs, but when I turn it

off, it doesn't start? But when I come back in about an hour or so. It starts up again. I don't understand. I have a fairly new battery. My check engine light is also on too. Has anybody ever experienced this before?
 
Is it the starter not spinning or the engine won't run?
If it's the started not spinning, It is the starter solenoid is going bad. Once it is hot it won't engage the starter.

If the engine turns over and doesn't run, You may have a sensor or the computer (PCM) starting to go bad.
