I just bought a 1999 Pontiac Montana & it has an electric motor in the rear...

...bumper... What is it? Whenever the key is in the ignition, engine on, or in accessory mode, this little motor is whirring in the rear bumper. Anyone know what this is? It is an electric motor with a wire harness attached to it. It also looks like it has 4 aluminum lines coming out of it going towards the front.

Could it be a rear evaporator motor? I don't know, but the motor is no bigger than my two fists put together.

If anyone knows or has had experience with this motor I would love a response. I am unsure if it is safe to remove it or just unhook it, or leave it be.

It's the "Auto-leveling" motor. It pumps up the shocks to level the vehicle. If it runs constantly you may have a bad shock, the impeller on the motor is stripped on the shaft, or you have a bad seal in the system.
