I know this sounds bad, but how do you hotwire a fiero

I work on a farm out in Banks, OR and sitting under cover in where we like to call the "dog house" is a red Fiero. I don't know the year yet, but i think its like 86. The owner of the farm got it with his property and I'm trying to get a bunch of random suff fixed up and/or sold there for him. Theres no keys , or title, and i need to put in a battery and hot wire it someway to see if it runs, or at least diagnose whats wrong with it. If i think i can get it running good again, then I'l go to autozone and pay for a new key cylinder and whatnot. Thanks guys up front for any help.

How do you know it's not a stolen car? Why would you put money into it if you have no way of getting the title for the car? Think you might want to look into who really owns it before doing anything. Just because it's sitting on the farmer's propertly doesnt mean he has legal right to it.

Get the VIN and check with local police to verify it isn't stolen. If it's not, since it was on the property, Put a notice in the newspaper for 30 days. If nobody claims it you can contact the DMV and apply for the title as it has been abandoned. Well that's how it works in most states, You need to check your local laws. Some states require you to file a "mechanics lien" in order to get the title.

As for starting it, with the VIN a GM dealership can cut you a key for it.
