not allow me to start it? I have a 1997 sunfire and i had to replace the ignition, now the factory theft device thats built into the car will not allow me to start the car, can someone help?
You replaced the ignition switch or the ignition key cylinder? Two seperate things. If you replaced the key cylinder, then you have new keys and if there is a chip in the key it's not programed to your theft deterrent system. You'll need to take it to a dealer to get it programmed since they have the equipment for it.
If that ignition has the chip in the key, it might not be recognizing the chip. Go back to the dealer if you have a chip in the key and make sure it's the right one.
