Well, I saw my first Pontiac Solstice on the road yesterday.. It looks really nice! It's very unique looking and very easy to notice.. Has anyone else seen one yet?

I haven't seen one yet. I'll have to lurk around the Pontiac dealers and see if I can find one.

So, would you buy one?

Now to make it REALLY cool, drop in the GXP Bonneville V8 into it.

BUT for GM to make it the ultimate Pontiac, drop in the 5.3L from the GXP GP. The aftermarket would go nuts! Oh, that's right. GM won't allow GOOD stuff to be produced. Imagine a Pontiac BMW M Killer....

that 5.3 is designed for front wheel drive. solstice is rear wheel drive. however ther is a ls2 conversion available. i saw a solstice 2 days ago and it was very nice, in black. i have also seen the saturn sky. much better looking car than solstice.

YES! I would buy one! But I do have to agree with jpo96sungt - the Saturn looks much nicer.. I'm really curious about how that car is going to look in person. Believe me, the Pontiac Solstice looks GREAT in person - but I've been liking the Sky even more and I have a feeling that THAT will look even better in person..

Now don't get me wrong.. I'm probably a little insane.. Why? I actually think the Sky looks a little nicer than the Vette... Flame away!

I didn't realize they were Correct Wheel Drive! Cool! GM is getting things right finally!!!

Is the 5.3L in the GXP a FWD bolt pattern for the FWD narrow bolt pattern trans or is it a special trans?

Man, a LS2 in a Solstice would be a blast. BUT, you know, GM would NEVER do it. The history of them killing off the cars that spank the flagship are something Pontiac could not afford to do right now.... Later maybe.....

(The likes of the SD455 T/A, GN Regal, GNX, Turbo T/A (both), the list goes on.... are all dead cars thanks to GM after they spanked the Corvette, you get your 2 years and you die....)

Top up?

I have yet to see a pic of one with the top up. Anyone? Got one to post?

The Mazda Miata was like that. A $12K car people were paying $20K to get. But, it is still being made today. So that is promising. GM shot themselves in the foot with the Fiero being killed off to make way for the Reatta. Makes you want to pull the marketing people who came up with that idea and just slap them silly.

Affordable car that just got a world class suspension (although still missing the 3800 V6) and replace it with a wrong wheel drive Buick that is priced right out of the market for the people who would be interested in it. And the people who wanted Fieros lost the chance, as most don't want to be associated with a slumber mobile Buick.

I saw a picture of a 1990 Fiero. NICE!!!! But, it is dead. I would bet even today, freshen up the drivetrain and that car would still sell well. Toyota marketing people are so much smarter than GM people. I hate to say it, but they are showing it in sales, were GM isn't. But they have the capabilty, but they just WON'T.

GM only produced 7,000 of them and they have orders for 14,000. People are paying $5,000 over invoice to get one. I think GM missed the boat, people dont want to wait 6 months for a car. Could have sold alot. Maybe it was on purpose to create demand and excitement.
Heres a pic of the 2006 Solstice click the link or paste in browser

Is the 7,000 the number for 2005? Looking for one in So Cal, a dealership is supposed to get a couple this next week. However, left wondering if GM will limit production to keep the car from becoming the Miata where everyone has one - loses its uniqueness?

dealers in Europe?

Hello, I saw my first Pontiac Solstice two days ago and I think it's amazing! Now the point is that I don't know if there are distributors here in Europe (I'm italian), someone can tell me someting more about it? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

One of the magazines here in the states is doing the "world's first V8 Solstice swap". I think they are shoehorning in a LS1 V8. Imagine 320+ hp!!!!

there is a company that has been doing that and selling them turn-key since they first came out......
