I am smelling gas from my 2001 Montana. It is a gas vapor smell, not raw gas. I particularly notice it around the left front of the van. Anyone else ever have this? No codes, runs beautifully, too.
Hi!
Perhaps, you have a bad purge solenoid. If all vacuum hoses and wires look ok , see solenoid valve solenoid and pipes that go to the valve. Check the vacuum pipe that goes to the fuel pressure regulator.
Thanks for that reply. The photos look very helpful. I also wonder if it's because when I fill up, I always fill the tank till I can see it in the filler neck. Overfill, in other words.
Upon farther inspection, I think that vacuum tubing may be my issue. It looks a little chaffed on the top and I can smell gas there. The top of the regulator also looks a little dampish. Is there a way to replace that line without going all the way back under the engine to who knows where? Some sort of a coupling? Thanks, Scott
Yea the sell them at the auto parts store, they go on the inside of the vacuum tube. They have little barbs or ridges on them so its hard to pull apart once inserted. They are sized according to the size of the vac line to be spliced.
