YES, there were two different wheelbases offered for the Montana. The short wheelbase from 98-05 was 112", the extended w.b. was 120". If you are looking for one (say in the classifieds or online), you can tell by looking at the VIN. The fifth digit of the VIN on the extended wheelbase is "X".

The longer version is an extension, the same wheel base,
just metal stuck onto the end. Other companies do the same thing, Dodge had a conventional van that extended 18". It handles about the same but is more rearward biased due to the weight hanging off the rear axle.
