If my trany in my 01 pontiac grand am is almost shot..?

Is this fixable? How much would it cost it fix?
is it legal for a used car dealership to sell this vehicle knowing that I know this is wrong with it? Would they fix it before selling it to me?
 
go to the salvage yard, and have them install a new one for like $800.00.....or if its still under warranty, go to the dealer and have them fix it. i replaced he tranny in my 2002 bonnevile and it only cost me 800.00 i paid 400 for the tranny and i had my friend install it for 400. a transmissiion installation is not a hard job with the correct equpipment
 
it can be fixable but you would be better off with new.new would cost around $1000 from autozone
