I'll straight up just admit it; when it was dark I tried jumping my 1971 Pontiac Lemans and connected the positive and negative terminals on the opposite side. Ever since that happened the car has not been able to start, I'll try to jump start it but it barely gets any power. The headlights and other lights work all right, but it does not have enough power to start the engine. I took the battery in to a auto parts store and they said it was fine. I am at a loss at what to do. Help is really appreciated.

Make sure the ground connection on the engine and the positive connection on the starter arent fried by what you did. In addition look for a fusilbe link in the harness going to the starter and for any blown fuses. You may have also fried the diode set in your alternator. You can take the starter out and have it tested at the parts store.
